I don’t know if this is a constant in other office cultures, but where I’m from, an office ‘open bar’ would made made of two items: Pilsner Beer, and Wine.
A career drinker will know well, that these two don’t go well together and are often the recipe for a severe hangover if mixed. Being a whiskey drinker, it’s a little difficult for me stay interested in either of the two for long, making the temptation to mix far too high 😀
..it is but one of the dangers in an office party. Stay tuned next week for more….
Gotta watch that Plonk-flavored…wait, what the hell? Maybe it’s another one of the endless acronyms that tend to float about in call centers. 🙂
I was wondering if ‘Plonk’ would confuse anyone 😀
In Ireland/UK, you’ll sometimes get a person referring to red-wine as ‘Plonk’.
‘Plonk’ is a pet-phrase for the cheapest, nastiest, head-ache inducing, wine-like berry-juice you can possibly cram in to a glass bottle. I think Ashens had an even better description for it with ‘Liquid Flith’ 😀
Either way, the boxed wine in this page is intended to be nasty. Much like watered down room-temerature beer…you drink it, because it’s booze…but then you might wonder why you want to.
Room Temperature Beer..?
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!
I know! Does suck doesn’t it? 😀
That’s the damnest thing about beer. It can be pretty damn good when chilled, but as soon as it gets warmer, that very same beer can soon taste like a cat’s liquid leavings. Is one of those things…
I heard thats how it’s supposed to be served in some countries.
The horror! :O 😀
Many of the older Germans believe that ice cubes in beverages leads to intestinal congestion, and disease. If you are “Lucky” you get two cubes in a cola. Oh no, no, you don’t understand, it’s much worse than that, the cola started out at room temperature; if it’s too cold it leads to ‘congestion’. If you are lucky – you get two cubes in a warm cola.
@Geneseepaws: Interesting – and horrifying. Remind me to avoid Germany, I guess.
