Page 10 of Chapter 10…did I mention this is also the 10th Year of Back Office? More about that later in the year π Oh and look….Lemon remember’s Mike…that’s so nice π
As I mentioned last week, We’re going to have a longer break than just the 1 week I usually planned for. Coupled with moving house I’ve also been taking part in 2 manga competitions (one of which involved me killing a week trying to print screentones right on a printed submission), and this is all before I even start drawing Coffee Party…which I will be also doing as normal π
The result of all this is that the page buffer is exhausted, just like myself alas. Because of all this I would like to impose myself your incredible patience once more and to come back in 4 weeks for the next page of this chapter on:
Monday 20th July 2020
Sorry everyone, due to a summer filled with renovation work I was pushed back in getting my buffer of pages filled with new stuff.
For the next page please come back on:
Monday 3 August 2020
Again, very sorry for the delay π
“It isn’t me, it’s that other Mike you’re thinking of!”
I thought Gary was the worst thing they’d face–boy, was I wrong! O.O
Yanno, Delta, I have to say that on my list of things I really don’t want suddenly appearing right behind me, Gary really honestly isn’t all that high on the list. He seems like more of a voyeur of people’s misery to me.
As for Gary and Laura, let me give you something to mull over. You remember when we first met Lemon (Ch 6 Date Night) she was with Gary as he was enjoying watching Mike tying himself in knots over Emily? Take a look at this page:
https://rawrtacular.com/bo/?comic=boc06p07
Notice the flower in Emily’s hair? Remind you of anything? Maybe that suggests that Emily is working (perhaps involuntarily) for a certain someone? Also bear in mind that it was Emily’s involvement with Mike that lead directly to the events that prompted Sam to start jumping around in time. And that in turn is what led to the creation of the timeline where Laura rules the world. All because of Emily, abetted by Gary.
I remember Lemon! Vaguely… π
And Kessy makes an interesting point. I’ll go re-read those chapters during the break, see if I can find the alleged comment of mine calling Emily a flower girl and maybe remember if that was at all meant to hint that this may be the case (which I doubt, I think I just found it funny that girls with flowers always spells trouble for Mike).
@08: Oops, sorry, I completely missed that you’d replied to my earlier comment. Your comment I referenced is on this page:
https://rawrtacular.com/bo/?comic=boc06p20
I didn’t get the impression you were trying to make a connection between Emily and Laura’s flower girls, but I could be wrong. The comment just struck me as I was rereading the chapter given what I was thinking.
Something else just struck me – this is occurring before the events of Date Night, which means Lemon shouldn’t have met Mike yet. So why does she say, “Gah! You Again?!” (Although this is after Q-Matic, when Mike “cheated” Lemon by keeping Emily’s call alive.) I’m guessing we’re about to get condescending comments from Gary and/or Lemon about humans having such a linear conception of time?
@Kessy: I was replying when there was already more than one newer page, I’d have been surprised if you did see that!
I just arrived at that page in my archive binge (thus why I came here, to drop the link, but you got there before me). And reading it has not jogged my memory, I’m fairly sure the wording was no accident but neither meant to imply any direct connection. More like: if any more girls with flowers show up, Mike should stay away from them! They are trouble!
Given Gary’s attitude in the first two panels I’d say that your guess about the line of conversation is already happening.
@Kessy: Both Lauras made all the flowers their girls wear.

I assumed that since Emily was a florist, the flower in her hair would have been fresh-cut from her stock, but your theory is not beyond the Pale. It would certainly explain her attraction to Mike, which I’ve always seen as a bit wish-fantasy-ish. ^^
Pardon me while I mull…..
I got to say I love seeing so much banter over here on the Back Office comments. It’s been a bit quiet over here (chat usually happens over on Bata Neart), and it warms the heart to see some life over here too π
As for the discussion…oh…so tempting to allude to various ideas to see how you’d all react…instead I will channel my inner Gary and not give away too much π
(Rolls in a barrel of red herrings) Here, Mark, feel free to use these!
*Whips up a potato salad (with crΓ©me fraiche and a diced apple), picks some herrings out of Kessy’s barrel and puts them on the barbecue* Dinner in 15 minutes everyone, someone get us something to drink!
No worries, see you in two weeks time then! I hope the renovation work went well? If it was just two weeks over time I’m guessing it went mostly smoothly, actually. No drama, just some parts turned out to be more work than expected, i.e. right about normal for renovations. Unless it was originally supposed to be two weeks or less in total, that is…
@O8h7W & Kessy: We should invite Chekov. He loves this sort of thing π
@O8h7w: Thank you π Renovation went well but had a knack of eating up whole days. I usually plan to do drawing / inking in the evenings but after a lot of those days I was finished not long before it was time to get some sleep. So my drawing productivity was a lot less than I planned. It’s still going to be a bit of a challenge with Coffee Party now starting up, but we’re now back in the swing of things π
Invite Chekov? Of course! After all, time travel was invented by a little old lady from Leningrad.
