Ha! I was right. Laura doesn’t have a clue how she’s coming across to everyone else. She got fascinated by a bright shiny puzzle and completely forgot about the social dynamics.
I find Laura sympathetic because back when she explained her backstory on the island and talked baout how all she ever wanted was to be a part? Yeah, I know that feeling.
(And no, I never tried to design a mind control device.) 😛
I have very seldom felt that I wanted to be a part of something that was shutting me out. However, I have felt somewhat often that I wanted a person or two to take part in what I was doing (on my own). I never tried to design a mind control device either. 😛 That would be “fake success” to me, not a real solution but a reality ignoring “solution” – and I’ve always hated that. I guess I did try hard to make my closest friend stay interested in the things I was interested in. Of course that did not work for long and the real solution was to find new friends that shared my interests, but hey, that took 20 years!
@O8h7w: You call a simple paragraph a “wall of text”? It’s not a true wall unless you can’t see the first line and the last line on the screen at the same time. ^^
I had a lot of the same problems as Laura, she just took her solution to a whole other level….
Regarding Laura and her past….yea, I’ve been there too. I had wanted to give Laura an actual relatable reason for her actions, and I’m glad that her story from “Office Party” still resonates with everyone. But yea….the old Tantrum Family method if using “Mad Science” does not lend to the healthiest of solutions…
As for her social skills…well…she might now be starting to learn that tying a person to her bed isn’t necessarily the best way into their good books…..especially Karen’s 😀
@O8h7w: Hey don’t worry about your post! 😀 Please always feel free to post as much as you like! Unless you call Ashling “Ash” over on Bata Neart, you’re rarely likely to get an angry reaction over here 😛

Apologies for the wall of text. I do know to not do that, but I slip up from time to time.
