I’ll tell you how this is mad, Prof. Tantrum: “At all costs” or “At any cost” or any such unconditionalness (yes that word may not have existed before I just wrote it but it works) is always mad. This is why love is often mad, it is simply too unconditional, too far from reason and sanity. In the case of love this may not be a bad thing, madness may also have its place in any life-or-death situation, but otherwise one should try to stay away from it.
Especially when coding, recognise that only that which can be mathematically proven is guaranteed. And sometimes not even that, due to flaky hardware, but most software does not need to take flaky hardware into account. All software should be very careful of taking anything else for granted though… and there I go writing a sweeping statement in absolute terms myself. (And a significant portion of code that I’ve written not only assumes that no one other than me uses it, much much worse, it assumes that I remember how it works. Which is wrong.)
xD I already love him. Hahahahahha.
Thank you! I’m glad you like him. I plan for Professor Tantrum to be a regular member of the cast in future stories.
