NEXT BACK OFFICE: Monday 23rd October 2017
Wait what? Who is not at home? Whose home?!
Yet again I’m very sorry about doing this, but you’re going to have to wait a good few weeks for the answer. This is both due to bad and good reasons.
The bad reasons: Summer was far more hectic than I reckoned it would be. Usually the summer months give me a chance to beef up the page buffers, but that didn’t happen this time. Thus the Back Office buffer is yet again exhausted. That is entirely my fault and I am sorry about that.
The good reason? Well…
Yet again this year I’m joining Nao Yazawa and the rest of the Coffee Party collective in creating the 6th manga of the series. In addition, this year I have the honor of actually co-writing the main story with Nao(!). I’ve been busy as hell since, resulting in me designing a whole load of stuff like this:
I bet you can guess this year’s theme π
The result of all this is that I’ll be out of action for Back Office and Bata Neart production for the next 4-6 weeks while I draw my half of the main story. After that, I’m back in full force. Thus please watch this space, and I promise to be back ASAP.
As always thank you so much for your unending patience.
As a thank you, I would like to introduce you to:
Unscheduled Hiatus Competition Time!!
Yes! Time for Back Office’s first ever reader competition. As compensation for screwing up update buffer, I would like to offer one lucky reader a copy of Coffey Party 06, (as well as any surplus copies I have of earlier Coffee Party mangas) as well as a copy of Back Office Vol.1
How to win? Well…you might have noticed that I placed little pop-culture easter eggs throughout the run of Back Office. There is one subtle easter egg in there which I thought people would notice, but haven’t so far. With that in mind, here’s the question that you need to answer:
“What late 90’s TV Sitcom title has been referenced in Back Office?”
The first reader to answer that is getting a couple of comics in the mail π
I can wait for the answers. ^^
See you when you get back. π
Wait… you’re working on a french manga, and I didn’t even know about this?
GΓ©nial! Je vais garder un oeil ouvert pour Γ§a!
As for your quizz, well… sorry. I never watched sitcoms, and back in the late 90’s I had yet to learn a single word of english. So I guess I’ll leave that for someone else.
Happy “hiatus”, and good luck on your other project.
@Delta: I can’t wait to see if anyone get’s it π
Ezarkal: Merci beaucoup ;D
The manga did start as a project between Nao and a French illustrator named Saeko Doyle. They drew the manga together in relay (they took turns to draw) in the first two years. After book 3, Saeko got too busy to continue. Since then, myself and the other Coffee Party members have been creating material for the books. This is the first year when I will make the main manga with Nao (essentially doing what Saeko used to). It’s very exciting π
Sorry for being AFK for so long folks, but itβs been busy π
Short update:
Coffee Party work is going well, Iβm half way through inking the pages I needed to do and over the next week or so Iβll be finishing that work and then putting production of my usual comics back into full swing.
Back Office will get my focus initially since I screwed up and didnβt finish that chapter properly. I will try to post a re-start date as soon as I have a few pages ready.
Take your time! I’m always eager to see more awesome comic, but I can wait.
Except… scratch that. I can’t. I can’t wait to see what mess Mike is getting himself into. XD
I also hope we’ll see more of Gary and Lemon. These two, it’s almost poetic: Two lost souls reunited by their shared passion of tormenting Mike.
@Rawr: Oh, I see. Judging by the blush, I’m assuming that she’s referring to the, um….. owners….of HER home, which would give her the opportunity to take Mike there…..undisturbed…..
@Delta: You’re not far off there π
FYI, Coffee Party work is wrapping up now. I’ve already started to draw the next page and I hope to have it up in the next couple of weeks π
Since I just read through the entire archive, I thought I’d go check out a list of sitcoms and see if I found anything. I never really watch TV at all. And while I am pretty certain I recently saw “Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist” somewhere other than in that list I then went to look for it in the archive and I couldn’t find it. I also saw somewhere a reference to “Ask Harriet”, but IIRC that one was pointed out and discussed. I’m giving up, at least for today, might look again later in the week.
@O8h7w: Here’s a tip. Half of the title is mentioned a lot π
