RAWRweekly: ADtacular! Also – The Comic Shop!

Hello and welcome back to RAWRweekly (yes, it’s got a name now…a lame one….hurra!)

Two new stuff this week. First off, I have finally taken the plunge and started to spend my ad revenue on publishing my own adverts with Project Wonderful. So, you might start seeing my Back Office banner cropping up around the interweb

Mhahaha ha!!! This guy has been laughing at us for nearly a year now.

It’s sort of a mixed feeling to be finally doing this. For one, it’s another step in maturing both RAWRtacular and Back Office as web-portal and web-comic alike. But on another note; I had to try something. You see, I’ve been crunching the numbers and it looks as if Back Office have already peaked. That’s never good. My meager readership is starting to decline again, and so I really need a way to promote it to the wider world.

I had started to think that perhaps Back Office is just a crappy webcomic that no-one wants to read. But even when I felt the worst, I knew this couldn’t be the entire case. Despite what I say about my god-awful art or story work, people do seem to enjoy my insane ‘office’ comic. Add that to the fact that there are weekly webcomics out there, which are no better than my own, and still manage to command thousands of readers, while according to ComicRank, I have 34 readers…and falling. (Not including the 100-200 unique hits I get on update days).

So there is only one solution I feel. An aggressive ad-campaign, timed to match the climax of the current story arc in Back Office. I ain’t quitting without a fight, trust me on that! I know there are readers out there who would enjoy this comic, and I’ll do my best to get it to them! But don’t get me wrong, I’m trying not to complain about where I’ve gotten so far. Ratings aren’t everything, and really I shouldn’t be *this* upset about low readership. Back Office is still seems to be doing better than some other newcomers, and I am after-all still new to this game. The most important point is that everyone is continuing to have fun with the comic, and hope to still do so myself. So I’m sorry if this article brings up some negative vibes.

Anyways, out with the negative vibes, and in with the good stuff. The second part of this week’s log:

Opening Hours - Whenever the hell I feel like it...

Via the very excellent KarmaCritic site, I have come in contact with the also very excellent team of Toro Chan and Rafagast, who produce The Comic Shop. It’s a webmanga set in a well…Comic Shop, and features some of the best manga style artwork I’ve seen from a western production, in a long while. I fully recommend RAWRtacular readers to check it out at the following link.

Also, since they are based in Spain, the webmanga’s ‘OVA’ is in Spanish as La Libreria. So if you read Spanish, check it out here. I don’t know if it’s the dry wit, or the rich characterizations that I like best about this comic, but I’m having a hell of a time reading it, and so will you!

Finally, a bit of an Easter Egg for anyone who actually reads the RAWRlog. In the coming months, I plan to expand RAWRtacular.com a good bit. Apart from the ever-delayed Bata Neart comic, I am considering content submissions from any and all interested artists and/or writers. Do you have a webcomic / webnovel yourself, and are looking for help in getting it out there? Don’t want to mess around with hosting, or find that your work just doesn’t fit with a category or listing site already available to you? Do you think it’s RAWRtacular enough? News on this will come later. But if you have something you would like to launch…just a have a think about it, and drop me a message if you’d like to discuss.

That’s all from me this week. Talk again soon!
