Bata Neart

Welcome back after the short break 😀

We continue here with the ‘Star Shop’ scene, and we get to see a little bit of Ashling’s playful side, while she makes fun of the new couple of Fiona and John. John is somewhat significant in being the very first male member of Bata Neart’s regular cast. There will be more, but he stands out as the first I managed to draw into the comic during it’s first run.

Part of this is due to plot, but it’s also due to a bad habit I used to have. For the first 5-6 years since I began to study the manga style, I almost exclusively drew female characters. It took a lot of practice and will-power to draw a male character. Additional practice in my other weekly web-manga ‘Back Office’ has helped a lot in my drawing of male characters.

So in future chapters, expect plenty more male characters to fill in as friends, rivals and yes even love interests as the story continues.
