A surprise turn around from Rebecca Connolly πŸ˜€

Yes, although strict she is fairly cool, and I wanted to illustrate that she has the ability to give Ashling a break once in a while. It might surprise you to see a parent ply alcohol to her seemingly underage daughter (Ashling is 17 by the way…never really mentioned that), but you’d rarely see an Irish parent begrudge on older teen the chance to drink light beer. Legally speaking, once a person is 16 in Ireland they are permitted to drink some alcohol. However it remains illegal to purchase until a person is at least 18.

In some respects the low legal drinking age is a somewhat reckless relic of laws that haven’t been updated in centuries, but on the other hand I feel that it does allow for people to slowly weaned onto the ‘fire-water’ and getting used to it before being given full legal permission to have at it with a bar menu.

That all said, Ashling was plied off with the cheap-ass-flavored own-brand beer of Star. Probably has no kick to it at all πŸ˜€

Next week: The Lake!

(Ah, teenagers drinking by the lake….isn’t that the setup to half of the horror movies released in the 80s? πŸ˜€ )
