Hello all, and sorry again for the delay!!!
I’ve been working as hard as I can to get the buffer ready for both Bata Neart and Back Office, and now I’ve now finally settled on the launch date for both. It’s a little later than I promised, and I’m sorry about that. This summer was a lot more chaotic than I had planned for, with the added bonus of the Coffee Party work. However, unlike last year we will be getting straight into full chapters of both comics.
The above snippet is from the upcoming first page of Chapter 10, which is also the first time I’ve reached double-digits with a comic’s chapters! Yay!
Bata Neart returns:
There’s our Lucky Star. <3
I marked it on my calendar. π
@Azreal: Ahh…you remembered the meaning of Aoife’s star? Nice π
@Delta: Thank you! Sorry again about the wait!!
And now I’m *really* looking forward to October. You do know that’s two days before the premier of the new Doctor Who season, right? Oh, that reminds me!
@AskAoife: So Aoife, how do you feel about the first female Doctor?
@Kessy: Erm….I was kind of hoping that *I* could be the first one…
I even have my own Sonic ready to zap random problems away…
Hu…I was even practicing my angry faces that I would use to scare the Daleks away. I guess I’d have to wait until I’m older anyway….I doubt they’d hire an Irish teenager. When I’m older, maybe I can move over to Cardiff …and then we’ll see ;D
That last Doctor broke the mold with his sun glasses lol. Anything can be sonic now. I bet Aoife would have a sonic headband ha hal I will give you three guesses who her companion would be but you will only need one π
@Aoife: The Doctor does need to look pretty intimidating when outraged about some dastardly bit of villainy… π
@Howard: I dunno, somehow I imagine Aoife as more of a ridiculously long multicolored scarf sort of Doctor…
Tom Baker best Doctor.
@Howard: Hard to know what her “custom” sonic thing would be. There have been plenty of different “sonic” things throughout the show’s very long run. The screwdriver seems to suit Aoife though, since she could wave it about like a magic-wand….which I feel is more her style π
@Kessy: Yea I also kind of see Aoife as a long scarf / silly accessory style of Doctor. She has her bandeau, which I guess could become some kind of Time-Lord “mood” bandeau, which could change colour / symbol based on what is happening? I dunno….BBC Wales don’t appear to be reading Bata Neart, but if they are…..*maybe* some of those ideas might appear *hint* *hint* ;D
@Azreal: Tom Baker has some the best Who moments too. I’ve always counted the Daleks as a favourite villain even from a very young age, and the Baker serial “Genesis of the Daleks” has some of my favourite moments and concepts for them. Especially the debate between The Doctor and Davros where Davros makes the compelling argument that the Daleks are not evil at all, that they’re just programmed to survive.
Although Baker tends to be a lot of people’s default Doctor (Especially Americans for some reason…something to do with PBS? I dunno…), I guess “my” Doctor was Jon Pertwee, the Third Doctor. A lot of his serials were being re-run during the 80’s and that sort of made him my default Doctor (That and he was also playing “Worzel Gummidge”, a kids show about a living scarecrow which was running on Irish / UK TV at the time). However, I do like Baker’s Doctor more π
@Rawr: There are several reasons that Tom Baker is one of the most popular Doctors. For one thing, yes, PBS ran a lot of his serials in the early and mid 80’s. Another thing is that Baker had by far the longest tenure of any of the actors to play the Doctor – he was there for seven years. His tenure also saw some of the best writing of the show’s original run – I believe Douglas Adams did some writing for the show at that time. And there’s the simple fact that Tom Baker fit the role like a glove, as did Elizabeth Sladen in the role of Sarah Jane Smith.
Personally Tom Baker was the first Doctor I ever saw as a very small child, and I grew up mainly on him and Peter Davidson. Tom will always be my favorite, although I have to say that I think that David Tennant is a close second.
