  1. Hi.
I know that this is kind of presumptuous, since I’ve posted two whole comments, but I contribute to a blog over on The Demon Archives webcomic. The blog is called “Why I Read”, and in it we showcase a webcomic we like and explain why we like it.

If it’s all right with you, I’d like to showcase Bata Neart. I’d also like permission to use an image of your cover page (since that’s where readers will be sent) and a few selected images to illustrate my points. I try not to use whole pages other than the cover/first page.

I also would like to know whether you’d like me to use your real name or “Rawr” in the review.

If you don’t feel comfortable about it, that’s all right. I won’t get mad, and I’ll keep reading.

If you’d like to see my work so far, check me out at http://www.demonarchives.com/tag/why-i-read/

Let me know what you think. Thanks

  2. Hello again Delta-V!
Please feel free to ask me anything, I’m always glad when readers show interest and want to comment πŸ™‚

I’m extremely honored and touched that you would like to write up on Bata Neart. By all means, I would be awesome if you did write this, and feel free to grab any image you need. I also have the original JPEGs if you need them.

When it comes to the comic itself, I tend to use my real name: Mark Egan. (“Rawr” is just a fun internet handle I like to use…it’s also the root of my RAWRtacular domain name)

Thank you very much for taking the time to write up on my comic. It’s readers like yourself that inspire me to work harder, and I truely hope that you continue to enjoy Bata Neart into the future.

(PS. I’ve been reading ‘Why I Read’ and it’s pretty damn awesome. You’ve covered some of my faves too πŸ˜€ )

  3. Okay, your review should be up Friday. Let me know how I did, especially if I got something wrong . In case you’re wondering about some of my choices and especially the things I left out, my reasoning is as follows: My goal is to get readers so intrigued by your comic that they go read the Archives start to finish, so I use as few spoilers as possible while still giving them a feel for what you’re doing. I’m also trying to get my readers to comment on and vote for your work.

99 percent of the comics on TWC are crap for one reason or another. As I see it, my job is to sift through as much of that as I can, find the hidden gems and show them to people. With that in mind, I also want to know what, if any impact the review has.

The review will remain on the website for as long as the website itself remains, so don’t be surprised if people a year from now or more are still finding you.

    Good luck to us both.

  4. Ooooo! How exciting, I can’t wait to see it πŸ˜€
Based on your articles so far I had total faith in you, and I am truly delighted that you wanted to do this. I really REALLY appreciate what you are doing. I would gladly trade my kingdom for more readers like you! (Disclaimer: I have no kingdom)

Wow, you mean that Bata Neart isn’t in the crappy 99%? Again, you are far too kind πŸ™‚

I will supply as much data as I can get from any additional traffic, interactions, or other notable things that you might be interested in!

  5. No, you are definitely in the 1%, and more importantly, you are striving to improve. Bata Neart is alive because you love what you’re doing and it shows.

Youhave other readers like me. Kessy Athena, Azrael, O8h7w, people who care. Vas, by the way is a Grande Dame in the Webcomic Underdogs (except for the aged and stuffy part), and if she likes your work, it’s quite an honor. If you want more of us, just keep doing what you’re doing, and stay involved with the commenters. If they know you care about them, they’ll return the favor.

  6. Thank you for your continued kindness and belief πŸ™‚
I value all you guys immensely. You all make me want to do this psudo-job of mine even better πŸ™‚ I love Vas too, she’s the beating heart of United Webcomics too πŸ˜€

  7. Well, you got one commenter from the review, and it just happens to be the author of Princess Chroma, the “Magical Girl” satire comic that I referenced in your review. She seems to like your work. πŸ™‚

I feel a bit bad that the review came out just when it did, because it may have been stepped on somewhat by the holiday distractions. However, I’d still like to know If you got any kind of a bump from the review (He said, hopefully).

I hope you had a great holiday, and are all ready for the new year. πŸ™‚

  8. I dig Princess Chroma too πŸ˜€ I try to comment there too πŸ™‚

Don’t feel bad about the timing, I loved it regardless, and there was a traffic bump. I detected about 30% traffic increase for the day. followed by 10% overall increase for the past few weeks. Commentary has also increased with the comments reaching double figures regularly now.

Finally, the TWC ranking has climbed a good bit since then and is hovering close to the 200 mark again.

So there was definitely an effect πŸ˜€ Thank you again for this Delta, you are awesome!
