The Collaboration Sensation that’s gripped the Nation

Hello all,

I post this week, a little more upbeat than last. This week I’ve taken my first steps into what might be the beginning of me working with other artists and creators in joint projects. Nothing is at-all certain, but the whole rush of ‘possibilities’ makes me feel excited about my work for the first time in a really long while. Last time I felt like this was during my time with YesIF magazine, and although that magazine failed to go very far, the feeling itself is great to have.

Who in their right minds would work with you Rawr?

Who indeed… Well, if you have been hanging around the different listing sites I’m on, you’ll notice that myself and the guys from Black Snow Comics are ever-present. Also given that I’ve done a banner exchange and guest art with them, you would assume rightly that we’re on real good terms with each other. Lately, I’ve been communicating a lot with Black Snow’s Michael Balistreri about one particular collaboration work (pending publisher approval) and other possibilities if that doesn’t happen.

Michael himself is something rare in the web-comic world. He’s the kind of artist who seems to care more about having a good time and encouraging others in their work, as opposed to becoming a hardened critic, a path I’ve noticed several artists go down. I first encountered him on Comicracy, however I had already noticed his banner adverts for ‘I’m Famous’ ( a spin-off of his main work Black Snow) on various sites I hung out on.

Detroit: City of Heros....and Elephant Boys...

I really liked his attitude at Comicracy, and so when exchanged banners we seemed get on pretty well.  Flash forward a few weeks, and now I’m talking with Micheal about collaboration work. So there’s potential for some fun comic projects coming up.

What does this mean for Back Office and Bata Neart?

Nothing at all. Back Office will continue to update every Monday until my fingers are bloody stubs. Bata Neart will be released this summer, starting with a 25 page requiem chapter, which will be shown as I originally intended in 2005. (The YesIF version of Bata Neart Ch 1.1 was an odd mashup of Bata Neart Ch 1.1 and 1.2. with pages all over the place.)

Well..that all said…back to work for me.

Be sure to check out Black Snow Comics from some hero action/comedy and also the massive pool of free and fun talent that is Comicracy.
