Another re-draw and an odd character design side note.
When I first drew this page in the original Chapter 4, this was Aoife’s first re-appearance in her original re-draft design (which is what I use for her now).

I actually had a sort of inside joke in the original page where Ashling remarks about her ‘new hair-style’, with Aoife repling that it is really a ‘new drawing style’. This was my early, and very lame, attempt to not redraw all of Chapters 1 – 3 by referencing the design change. As you now know, I redrew them anyway, making the original page text obsolete.
Coming up next week…what about that dream then?

Also, Ashling is not packing her Staff today, so you once again avoid a beating. 😆

Have I ever asked, and has it ever been explained, why Aoife always wears that headband? I can’t tell if it’s actually holding up her hair…

Ashling without the staff…there’s a practical reason for that at this point, which you’ll see soon.
@Red: Glad you like that expression. I’m still dreaming up different ways to express Ashling’s exhaustion with Aoife. With 50+ Chapters planned, I’ll have plenty of more opportunities for that 😀
Aoife’s headband is something I introduced way back in her original 2003 image (pictured above). For the most part, it doesn’t serve a purpose, it’s just an accessory that she likes to wear and later in the story I will introduce her collection of them, of the Star Band is her favorite. From a character design point-of-view I felt that the band helped her seem more eccentric than the other girls.
When I got to drawing Chapter 2 in 2005, I actually forgot about this design (despite having the drawing) and re-designed her with a massive box in her hair. It was a lame design, and by the time I re-discovered her original appearance I had already finished Chapters 2 and 3 :/
