Ashling begins to realize what is happening, but alas there is nothing she can do about it.
I’m sorry for the very dark tone here, but I think it’s necessary for the feel and plot of the rest of the chapter. Next week, we see what these girls are up to on this pier.
Aww, bummer. Poor Ghost-girl. 🙁 And poor Ashling as well, having to watch and not be able to intervene.
I’m guessing she’s viewing how the ghost became a ghost.
You both have nailed it as usual. Ashling is viewing the ghost girl’s final moments, and thus the drama of the past couple of pages (and a couple to come). Hoping to put this scene to sleep soon and moving the story forward again! 😀
