With Page 3, we get the Bata Neart logo and this chapter’s title page.
This is one of what I think will only be a handful of brand new material for Chapter 4. I needed to introduce this scene as a setup for Sharon’s ‘punishment’ for the girls (one risqué suggestion by a reader had a punishment involving Sharon holding a hurley and the girls ‘assuming a position’. Hmm…there’s going to be occasional fan-service in this comic, but I think that idea was a little on the nose 😀 Thanks for the suggestion though!)
Sharon’s original punishment for them involved 50 laps of the running track at the end of Chapter 3. I however ditched that page for sake of a dramatic ending. Instead, Ashling is shown here re-lining a camogie pitch at dawn. This had the bonus a making for a very peaceful opening scene at sun-rise, which I hope you enjoyed.
Next week, this scene continues.
… And now Ashling should draw gigantic crop circle-type symbols on the pitch. 😛
And yes, a nicely atmospheric chapter opening.
Heh, I remember getting volunteered to reline the football field back in high school. That would definitely be a nice tedious punishment.
@Red: Glad you enjoyed the opener! I think I’m going to try and do something like this on every chapter opening. (Except for chapters following on from cliff-hangers I guess).
I feel it would be in Ashling’s nature to get revenge in this way, but her nightmare & the 5AM wake-up probably mean that she’s too much of a sleep-deprived zombie to do too much 😀
@Azrael: Also it’s practical for Sharon, on account that ‘GAA’ season starts up with the school year, and the pitch will be needed for Camogie and Gaelic Football (Which in many Irish schools are your only two options for sports….except the guys play ‘Hurling’…same as Camogie…just different name)
