Look’s like Aine is about to get a full-blown hit of the 21st Century…and this universe’s Ashling is none the wiser about where she is from!
Anyways, more back story:
Part 4: Building the program, and becoming a Manga Student
With things looking up technical-wise, Nao had started to pull everything together to make Manga School Nakano’s online program a reality.
It was at about this time that she began asking my input again and she would regularly send me items to review & give feedback on. Her program ideas were extensive, and covered all manner of skill levels and needs. Lessons ranged from 1 hour art-work sessions for beginners, right up to an online version of the Manga Production course that was typically offered to local students.
I helped out Nao where I could by proofing and correcting the text wherever needed. Before long it was time to ‘soft-launch’ the program.
I anticipated that there would be a lot of interested people in the program when it launched, and with Anna heavily pregnant I had not expected to be a student myself. However when the time came to get students Nao asked if I wanted to be among the first to be an MSN student. Anna being awesome as usual, was ok with this and so I gladly applied myself to take the longest course available: the aforementioned Manga Production course.
Soon, I was about take on the most extensive drawing program I have ever handled before.
Next week, “Joining MSN and choosing a manga story”
Yes, Ashling, she works at a theme park. Disney Under Ice. 😛
@Azreal: Indeed, although given the circumstances I would have gone for ‘Frozen’ 😀
Is it just me, or does this version of Ashling seem a bit… hmmm… how to put this delicately… meh, I’ll just say it. Clueless. She seems downright clueless.
@Kessy: I know, I know. ‘Nakano’ Ashling hasn’t the same edge as ‘Prime’ Ashling. At lot of this pages interactions is down to a technique of ‘leading the reader’ that Nao was teaching me. Although we know that the regular Ashling would not be this naive, but she’s being this way to set up a fairly slow reveal later on. Since ‘Hello Tomorrow’ is an introductory one-shot it’s kind of built with new readers in mind.
I’ll cover a bit on this process when I get there in the ‘back story’, but the original draft of this story (originally titled ‘Aine’s New Day’) was a ‘prime’ universe story with the regular Ashling. I moved away from that while Nao taught me the process of one-shot production.
LOL Well, Ashling is a trooper – I’m sure she doesn’t mind taking one for the team and carrying the idiot ball for a while. ^_^ The things we do in the service of Plot…
So if Nakano Ashling is a bit of a ditz, does that mean Nakano Aoife is the reliable one? 😀
@Kessy: I think Nakano Aoife would be pretty much the same as Prime Aoife, for the most part because I couldn’t really bring myself to modify her character too much 🙂
I would recon that Nakano Fiona would have the be the reliable one, if this universe had continued to future stories (and it might if I ever have to make a promo Bata Neart special for the Japanese market)
