Well…at least the Fomorians are trying their hand at some electrical engineering. Maybe they can do something constructive with their new knowledge.
…what do you mean this looks bad? Are you saying that pulling random wires out of a power junction is damaging?
……Oh…..
Since that’s 5 pages, we’ll have to wait an extra week to find out what happens alas. I hope to see you again on:
Friday 22nd May 2020
Looking forward to seeing you back for 5 more pages while we countdown to summer!
Wow, this really changes my impression of the Fomorians. I wouldn’t have attributed this level of planning to them. Not to mention this much understanding of the workings of modern technology.
Okay, I have definitely been watching way too much anime. At first glance I interpreted the logo on the sign under the cross as katakana. It does kind of look like “to”, a curve and a “mi”.
@Kessy: Agreed. About the sophistication levels of the Fomorians. I can not properly attest as to the levels of your anime viewing. π
“Too much anime”. Hmmm, I do not understand these words, desu. π
Aaand rhe Garda will arrive after Ashling blasts the Formorians but before the junction box explodes. Irony demands it. ^^
I wonder if somehow absorbing(?) Aine, or any other human, transfers knowledge to the Fomorians? That could be how they suddenly know how to pull wires, let alone open a transformer/junction box.
@Farren: You’re forgetting that Aine doesn’t know the first thing about electricity, much less junction boxes. In-universe it hasn’t been long at all since Ashling and Aoife woke her up. I’d guess a few days, maybe a couple of weeks at the most.
My suspicion is that Fomorians learning about junction boxes is the reason for sudden unexplained power outages. It’s also interesting to note that it appears that Fomorian bodies have a high electrical resistance.
So they are like Gremlins?
@Vangeln: Well, let’s just hope no one sets off the sprinkler system in the hospital!
@Kessy: The logo on the sign is my sloppy take on the logo of the “HSE”, Ireland’s answer to the UK’s “NHS”. I had hoped this page might peak people’s interest in the Fomorians, glad to see it paying off π
@Vangeln: Cantina closes well before Midnight…. ‘ll be fine!
Delta: Would be typical for some Gardai to turn up right about now, wouldn’t it? π (Any minute now….)
@Azreal: I know what you mean Azreal. I’ve watch loads of anime and I’m genki-desu…..erm….I mean I’m fine…..I’m…fine…
@Farren: Hmm…eat people’s knowledge? Not a bad idea…be careful filling your head with such good ideas…you might end up making yourself a tempting target for one of these things π
Wait, so if this is what the Fomorians look like when they haven’t been fed after midnight – the cute and cuddly form – what will they be like when they *have* been fed after midnight?
Oh great, now I’ve got The Gremlin Rag stuck in my head. Whelp, only one thing to do: inflict it on all of you too!
https://youtu.be/RGLoLphCeGI
Maintance crew just doing some electrical work at midnight nothing to see here *translated from Fomorian which amounts to 3 sharp K’tics*
“Hey, Charlie, there are humans looking at us.”
“I’ve told you before, Harold, humans can’t see us.”
“But they stopped their car and are looking*right at us*!”
“For the last time, they can’t see us! Now shut up and do your work.”
“They’re getting out of their car, Charlie.”
“Ignore them, Harold.”
“One of them’s got a magic staff, Charlie!”
“Harold, if you don’t get back to work *right now*, I swear I’m writing you up!”
He should listen to him too. Iβve heard that Charlie is a respected shop-steward in the Fomorian Trade Union π
But think of all the paperwork they’ll have to fill out if they get blasted. A work stoppage report, an injury in the workplace report, a claim for worker’s compensation benefits, a discharge of a magical weapon in a populated area report… And that’s assuming their union rep doesn’t decide to make a formal complaint about unsafe working conditions! It’s a nightmare, I tell ya…
Incidentally, I was poking around Google maps, and I was wondering if this hospital is based on Wicklow Primary Healthcare Centre? Cause if so it really is waaaay on the other end of town from where the school is. I can see why they needed Fiona’s car.
@Kessy: Good read of Wicklow Town, that is where I’ve placed it π

I have taken a lot of creative license with the place. Wicklow Town does not have a proper hospital within the town itself (Wicklow people have to go north to Newcastle or towards Rathdrum in the real world to get to a full hospital.) But it was ideally located for what I needed in the plot π
