@Delta: Well, I’m not sure how Rawr is doing magic, but usually it’s related to mental and emotional energy. I may be reading it wrong, but my impression is that Ashling is scared to death of the Fomorians, scared, of the idea of fighting, and scared by the idea that she could have the power to destroy something like them. That’s a lot of unstable emotional energy pushing in opposite directions and going nowhere. Until her fear of the Fomorians overcomes everything else and the damn breaks. All that pent up energy comes blazing out, channeled through the Bata Neart all at once.
@Kessy: This is the first time that Ashling has “Fired a shot in anger”, as they say. Before this, she has just been playing/practicing with it. Also, I’m sure she remembers blowing up her friend’s car simply by speaking, so she’s afraid of the Bata Neart, as well. I think you nailed it when you said that the fear if the Formorians finally triggered her. Judging by the recoil, I’d say that this blast was 1000 to 5000 times as powerful as the one that killed the car. Judging by Aine’s expression, SHE’S never seen that much power before either. ^^
@Rawr: Well, we know that the Bata Neart can distinguish between a male and a female since the boy who tried to touch it wound up in the water, soooo, some sentience, at least….
@Delta: Well, I don’t know about Aine, but if that were me, that’d be my, “I can’t believe you just did that, you could have taken my head off,” face. Magic fueled by unstable emotions can be powerful, but it’s also unpredictable and difficult to control. Again, think of a damn breaking. Lots of power, but no precision. It just sweeps away everything in its path.
That sort of magic is also difficult to replicate, and there is the small matter of the rest of the Fomorians.
@Delta: If you haven’t watched Yamato 2199, you really should – it’s about the most fantastic remakes of a classic series I’ve ever seen. The writing exceeds the visuals.
Agreed. I love “Space Battleship Yamato / Star Blazers” but the animation is now somewhat dated at this point. “Yamato 2199” takes the same story (and it stays very true to the original) and updates the animation to more modern levels. It is bloody awesome. I just hope they’ll redo the second and third season as well here in the near future.
Now it will be cool if the aftermath is like a circular hole in him, the tree behind him and maybe a small hill behind that lol. May as well go all dragonball z here while we have the chance :P.
@Azrael That anime was so cool I remember when I first seen that I was like oh heck yea! I’m totally gonna have me a supergun built into my first vehicle.. Sadly they did not come standard on GMC trucks lol
Fire the Wave Motion Gun, Wildstar! π
So apparently vocal volume has something to do with power output–or the Bata Neart is really eager to join the fight. ^^
I’m still a little unclear on just HOW sentient it is.

@Azreal: Okay!
@Delta: Oooooo…..spoilers ;D
@Kessy: Ah awesome! That’s pretty much what I was going for. It’s always a pleasant shock when some of the ideas I put in are detected π

Perhaps seeing one of their group get blasted to pea gravel might cause the rest of them to flee as fast as they can K’TIC. ^^
i’ll also admit that the “minnow that’s really shark” meme is one of my favorites. π
Personally, I’m partial to the new version of firing the wave motion gun.

@Kessy; That ….has it’s points… ^^

@Howard: Damn…now I wish I had drawn the aftermath that way π
Nuke it from orbit, it’s the only way to be sure
