Yanno, you’d think Aoife would have realized by now that the best thing to do with Sharon is just be honest with her. I get the impression that Sharon has a very finely tuned BS detector.
@Kessy: I have to keep reminding myself that these characters I’m drawing are teenagers and therefore prone to some foolish choices.
I try my best to remember my own teenage years to provide some kind of working perspective, but with me turning 35 this year those memories take more work to recall π
On the plus side, with me turning 35 I will now be eligible to become President of Ireland. Given the kinds of people becoming presidents lately, I recon I probably have as good a shot as anyone π I just need to start getting addicted to Twitter, and then *bam* I’ll be elected. Easy peasy π
And for some reason it didn’t dawn on my until just now what Sharon is probably assuming about why Aoife is hiding a girl in her room. Oh well, it’s been a long time since I’ve been around teenagers – I’m probably just not used to thinking in those terms.
Although considering how Aoife and Aine are getting along, I’d have to say that Sharon isn’t completely wrong about that. If Sharon knew that the two of them had showered together, that would definitely not help Aoife’s case.
@Kessy: I think Sharon is less concerned with romantic entanglements than with the obvious guilty reactions. She doesn’t strike me as a sticker for decorum, or someone with religious objections, as much as someone who takes it as a personal affront when some tries to “put one over” on her. “I don’t know what you’re up to, but you’re not going to get away with it!”–that sort of thing.
@Delta: I agree with you about Sharon’s reaction, but unless I’m really out of date a private high school isn’t going to be okay with one of the students hiding a lover in their dorm room. Especially if that lover is an outsider, not connected to the school at all.
And let’s not forget that this is a CATHOLIC school. So any pre-marital shenanigans would probably be seen as A Very Bad Thing. Or at least frowned upon. And then depending on how orthodox they are here, there may be issues with the same sex aspect to boot.
Why so serious, Sharon? Serious Sharon is serious. And other memes.
Don’t let her break you, Aoife! Be strong! π

Ah, well, Aoife is a teenager, after all.

Of course, it doesn’t help that Aoife seems to have been taking lessons from Denver the guilty dog.
