Hmmmm, I don’t know if guilt is quit the right emotion. Maybe nervous would be closer to the mark. It’s like when you get a puppy and you have to leave them at home alone for the first time.
Although somehow I’m guessing Aine’s capacity for finding trouble probably far exceeds any puppy’s.
@Kessy@Azrael: What’s the worst that could happen?.
Now they’re completely doomed. Three is the magic number after all! π
Now Aine does look happy and comfortable there, but what could she possibly do by herself? She might be somewhat literate, but she can’t read anything modern and likely still doesn’t have a good understanding of the technology. I’m assuming Aoife has a TV or at least a radio in her room that Aine could play with, but she wouldn’t undersand where the voices and/or people are coming from. She might be able to figure out the stove (hopefully without burning down the dorm). I’m figuring she might get bored and lonely soon and decide to put on (maybe, hopefully) some more clothes and venture out in search of the girls.
Hopefully she doesn’t really act like a puppy and pee on the floor because she’s so excited that they came home. π
I’m kind of picturing something between Brendan Frasier in Encino Man and Hugh Jackman in Kate and Leopold for her level of adjusting to her new time.
No matter what happens, hi jinks will most definitely ensue.
@Kessy: A little of both I’m guessing, but mostly nervousness as you say. She’s been Aine’s guide to this new world so far, and leaving her to her own devices seems like a scary idea. Aoife would probably rather not leave her alone at all.
@Delta: I’m hoping for a lot of fun here. It was part of the reason that I couldn’t skip this idea over. (After Chapter 9, I don’t think this chapter would have worked)
@Farren: Aoife’s room contains some technology, but not an awful lot. She doesn’t posses a computer of her own (which is why they often borrow Fiona’s tablet to look up stuff), but she does have a radio and a small TV / DVD Player combi on the desktop by the window.
The rest of Aoife’s stuff are her clothing and collections. You’ve already seen the stuffed animals, but she also has a large collection of comics, manga and various other anime/manga artifacts. As the series goes on, you’ll see more and more of this.
Yanno, something just occurred to me. Did Aoife think to go over some basic safety rules that we take for granted but Aine wouldn’t know about? Like don’t stick things into wall outlets and that electricity and water do not mix. Because if she didn’t, that and all the dooming could have some shocking results…
@Kessy: π Not to worry! I think she’ll be fine wth the wall outlets. Ireland has the same 3-prong ground-release outlet that is used in the UK. It’s very difficult to shock yourself on one of these unless you were being especially silly, and had a long screwdriver….not like I tried or anything….. π

What could possibly go wrong? There, I’ve doomed them all rather nicely. π
Hmmmm. Will she mess up the technological items, or follow the girls? The possibiiity of hilarious mayhem is enormous, either way.
The puppy ananlogy may be prophetic. ^^
@Azrael: Wait, I know a shortcut. Well, at least it can’t get any worse.

@Azreal & Kessy: hmm….I’ve got a bad feeling about this π

Well, now that we’ve all so thoroughly doomed them, I’m wondering if the school is still going to be standing by the end of the chapter.
Well, I’d suggest teaching Aine to say, “wan wan” but I think Aoife would die of the cute.

(Puts a dollar in the gratuitously bad pun jar.)
