Bandeau? Yes, bandeau! I just learned that one! Aoife’s ‘headband’ is also known as a bandeau! It’s kind of nice to have a proper word for that! Alas, it is also a type of bikini, but that’s alright.
I hope you enjoy her collection π In the expanded Bata Neart material I have been hinting at the existence of such collection, and now it is presented here in Aoife’s especially tailored bandeau shelf-system. I like to think she has one for every conceivable occasion, and the ‘Star Bandeau’ is simply her favorite and is thus worn the most.
We also get a bit of Aoife’s bypolar nature on this page. She isn’t always bubbly, and often needs to kick-start that smile of hers. I’m sort of trying to illustrate a bit of her internal turmoil. Underneath her happy face, there’s a torrent of unhappiness brewing.
But what will this new adventure bring? Just wait and see π
Not the Team Rocket one, Aoife. You’ll have bad luck all day. π
And unhappy Aoife always makes me kind of sad. π
Team Rocket?! That’s the RAWRtacular ‘R!’ she’s got there π
If you follow my other comic ‘Back Office’ you might notice another meta-reference there too π
I’m very glad that you are emotionally invested in Aoife. It gives me hope that i’m doing my job right and writing characters that people can care about.
Aoife herself has had a surprising rough life, which you’ll learn about in time. The fact that she can smile at all makes me feel that she is a strong character who tries to fully live life. At least that’s what i hope to convey π
The one in the bottom right looks familiar but I can’t remember from where.
It’s meant to be the symbol of the ‘GREG Initiative’ which is the current antagonist over in my other comic ‘Back Office’.
I also loosely based that symbol on the logo for IBM’s Lotus Notes π
Something about her slightly miserable expression really catches my attention. It may be that she’s just tired and trying to wake herself up with the water, but I also get the sense she’s overwhelmed and trying to pull herself together. Given everything that’s happened, it can’t be easy staying positive, even for her.
Ah well done melaredblu π There is an underlining drama to Aoife’s character that I’ll reveal later, but part of what I personally like about her is that she perseveres to smile despite of it all, and fight on…
