Oh, I’m sure Aoife would love to hear about this one…in great detail π
Creepy voice from the woods? You know where this is going……again…..

Hmmm…so, Claire “Petal” Byrne again? Or another spirit, perhaps?
I still like the Aoife invades Ashling’s dream to surprise her comedy effect, myself. π Or we find out this isn’t really a dream π
Ah…it’s not clear yet…which is a good sign π
The only clue I’ll give you is that it’s not Claire’s ghost.
Oh and Aoife is coming soon. This will be an ‘Aoife heavy’ chapter π
The comic is imaginative and I’m scratching my head about what’s going to happen next…the only problem I have is that I can’t tell the characters apart, especially when they’re all women and all in bikinis. The hairstyles just don’t give me enough contrast. Sorry.
Thank you for your kind comments Gwen π
You are quite right on the character design problem I have. A lot of the girls are very similar. This is something I’m trying to tackle at the moment, and will be something I keep working on into the future.
The current chapter in Bata Neart will be giving me a chance to practice the designs of Ashling and Aoife in the hope of defining their facial features a bit better. Also, there will be a change in the character dynamic in this chapter which I hope will make telling the girls apart easier in future.
The ‘bikini women’ aspect of your comment makes me wonder if it was mostly aimed at Bata Neart’s sister comic ‘Back Office’. Back Office is currently going through a story where most characters are in swimwear, and almost all of the antagonists are women. Admittedly I’ve made big problem for myself here, but it was a challenge I needed to take on to try and practice different female character models. I do need a lot more work there, especially since 3 of the characters ended up looking very similar!!
I’m going to keep practicing, and trying, and improving where I can. In spite of my failures I hope you continue to enjoy the comics, while I promise to do my best to make them better.
Thanks for taking my comments seriously.
I think I have gotten the comics mixed up, which sort of points up what I was saying. You DO need to differentiate your characters more, if I can’t tell which comic I’m looking at. π
Do you use reference art? It might help if you picked pictures of women with different facial structures and body types to use for reference purposes. Even the anime style has different facial structures in it.
This is why I use 3d design rather than hand-drawing, which I’m not particularly good at yet. I can tweak the facial and body features so they don’t look so similar, so I can use similarity as a plot point. I build my comic in Second Life, with custom avatars, clothing, poses, and backgrounds. Making the characters look different from one another without looking ODD is one of the largest time-sinks.
I’ll suggest the same books my own tutor suggested I get, and use. Bridgeman’s series on drawing, and Andrew Loomis’ books on drawing have extensive tools for designing faces and bodies.

Well, it’s not as though anybody can see her.
I mean, besides the entire internet.
Yea, I think she’s fine. The Internet are such a modest bunch π
