“Um excuse me, Mr driver sir? I know you probably can’t see it, but there are rock monster things like the ones that just Possessed/zapped my friend here chasing the ambulance. Could we maybe step on the gas!”
And these ambulance chasers don’t even have proper law degrees!
I’m a little confused, though. It’s clear from earlier that while Ashling and Aine can see the Fomorians, normal people can’t. But can Aoife see them or not? Back when one of them was stalking Aoife http://rawrtacular.com/bataneart/comic/batac10p11/ I wasn’t sure if Aoife couldn’t see it or if it was just being stealthy and concealing itself. I’m assuming that Fiona can’t see them.
Also, it didn’t occur to me until now, but wouldn’t Ashling have asked Garda Rachael to take her to the hospital? Is there a reason they’re headed for the school instead, like breaking curfew or something?
@Kessy: Aoife’s a little special compared to ordinary folk. She seems to be a little more in tune with the spirit world…even before Ashling ended up with the Bata Neart. My take on it is that while most people might just notice the odd shadow, or get a creeping feeling. Aoife can see those shadows in more detail, and finally Ashling and Áine can see them for what they are.
Racheal wants to get the girls back to school before their curfew, and was intending to bring Aoife too until she guilted into changing plans. I had a sort of “resolution” planned for all of this 😛
you know assuming they actually make it to the hospital its gonna be interesting. she has noID, no SSN#, (wait that’s an american thing I think). And no insurance no records of any kind lol should make for some fun times
Ireland has a Personal Public Service Number. Seems to be roughly equivalent to out SSN. And like here in the US one doesn’t appear to actually HAVE to have one. Just if they want to use certain government services. Probably just have to tell the hospital that Áine is Aoife’s cousin from out in the Gaeltacht boonies and that will be good enough to going on with. For now. 😈
@Howard & Azreal: Azreal is right on the money. Ireland’s equivalent to an American SSN is the PPS number. In recient decades all Irish children automatically receive their PPS from birth, *however* not that long ago only got your PPS upon reaching the age of 16 (which was the case for me).
The PPS isn’t a prerequisite to receiving help from an Irish hospital. Like most of Europe, Ireland uses a single-payer social insurance model where income taxes fund the health system. That means that anyone who turns up at an Irish hospital will receive all of the help they need, even if you are not an Irish citizen. Although the hospital will probably want to identify Áine more positively than from just Aoife’s word….there may be some time to play with before Áine’s Official ID becomes a problem.
Sheesh. Bloody ambulance chasers. Apparently they have them in Ireland, too. 😛
@Azreal: Indeed! I just like any other ambulance-chasers, these guys will probably try to bleed them dry 😛

@Howard: The paramedics would probably think: “Damned space-cadets….every weekend….” 😛
