@Henry: We don’t actually know if Ashling’s dine any “loving” or not.
Also, remember, “or at least that’s probably how Aoife would see it.” Somehow, I suspect that Aoife may occasionaly not be as clear as she ought to about the distinction between reality and wishes… At least on that subject.
@Henry & @Kessy: Ashling hasn’t really got any history as a “lover” (beyond any designs Aoife might have for her). I was playing on the whole “I’m a lover, not a fighter” saying for that blurb 😀
@Delta: Well…that’s the thing….are they spirits?
The Formorians are a very mysterious part of Irish mythology. According to legends, when the first tribes of people arrived on the island of Ireland (probably right after the last Ice Age), the Formorians were already there….and had possibly always been there. Several attempts to colonise Ireland failed, and after the island was abandoned (for reasons unknown) people would return to find the Formorians were still there.
Future legends have various characters and groups in conflict with them. An Tuatha Dé Danann fought a very large war with them and even somehow intermarried with them. I’m not really sure how that would work (Formorians had often been described as monstrous things) but the Tuatha Dé Danann were equially mysterious. They were depicted as a race of super-powered Gods that suddenly arrived at Ireland from the sea and then took over.
TL:DR = It could be they are ghosts, it could be that they are in the living world. Bottom-line: They can be killed with magic 😉
All Joking aside Ashling is just a kid really well (how old are the girls anyway 16 17?) So yea killing something ghost or otherwise is gonna be a big deal for her.
@Howard: Most of the girls are 17, although we might be able to guess that Áine is older (18-19ish)…just there’s no precise way of knowing how much olders.
I mean, Ashling hasn’t done any “loving” so I’m not sure about that.
Also, I think them being dead was something that Ashling was worried about.

Um, aren’t they spirits? You know, ALREADY dead? O.o
