Oooooh crap :O That can’t be good. Especially not with Sharon down there.
Is รine about to learn first-hand why the girls fear Sharon Connors?

So now the real question is how good is Sharon’s Gaeilge?
Probably better than aoifes.
Well, as long as no one gets clocked with the cup.
I’m mildly disappointed the crows aren’t crying, “Aho!” ๐
@Azrael: I suppose Irish crows must have a less sarcastic sense of humor than Japanese ones.
I think the issue isn’t the cup hitting anyone, but it bringing to Sharon’s attention that there’s a strange girl who is most definitely not an enrolled student hiding in the dorms. (And cutting class!)
@Bill: That’s a safe bet ๐ Most teachers in Irish schools have a very good grasp of Gaelige (they kinda have to)
@Kessy: Exactly, you don’t want Sharon finding out about รine. Otherwise all kinds of brown-stuff will hit the twirly-thing….and you don’t want that…. ๐
@Azreal: Where is that ‘Aho’ reference from? I don’t know it…
@Rawr: I think that the trope of crows crying “aho” has probably been used many times in anime and manga. I’m not sure what instance Azrael was thinking of but the example I always think of is from the anime Pani Poni Dash, which I think can best be described as Studio SHAFT does Azumanga Daioh: a cast of not quite normal schoolgirls and their everyday highjinks, with a generous helping of randomness, pop culture references, and general weirdness. One of the main cast is Katagiri Himeko, an epic ahoge sporting genki girl with an attention span of zero. In one of the episodes the rest of the cast had to venture into her mindscape and encountered (among other things) flocks of crows flying by crying “Aho! Aho! Aho!”
@Rawr: In the Kansai (Kyoto, Osaka) dialect of Japanese, “Aho” means idiot. Rather like the, probably, more used “baka”. In many anime or manga when a character does something foolish or unfortunately comedic one or more crows will fly by crying, “Aho! Aho!”
I’m guessing that Sharon won’t be deterred in the least by the fact that getting Aine in trouble for cutting class and for hanging out in the dorms when she’s not an enrolled student contradict each other completely.
I feel like the Terminator theme ought to be playing over that last panel. Duh-duh-duh dun da dun. Now we just need to have Aoife pop up and say, “Come with me if you want to live.”
@Azreal & Kessy: Thanks for enlightening me ๐ I really need to get back to watching anime again; I’ve had a dry spell of anime-viewing that go on for years now. Most attempts to watch an anime are usually thwarted by my inner Editor telling me to get back to work ๐
@Kessy: “Hasta la vista….Aoife….” ๐
Oh Sharon would totally hunt down รine. She’s essentially the school’s official guard-dog, and usually jumps to action when she feels that something is amiss. (Which is why she turned up at the old pier that night when Ashling & Aoife were drawn there by Claire’s ghost).
@Rawr: If you haven’t seen Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica yet you really need to. And you can even tell your inner editor that it’s work related. Not only is it really good, it also just about redefined the mahou shoujo genre. I don’t know if I’d go so far as to say that Madoka did for magical girls what Neon Genesis Evangelion did for giant mecha, but it’s close. I think it’s definitely an important work, and since you’re working in the genre you really should see it.
If you want I could probably recommend a few titles that would be most worth your time if you tell me a bit about your favorite shows and what you like.
