Aoife finally gives into sleep after what must have been 2 full days without any.
But Áine appears to be a bit on edge…I wonder what is up there…
Next week will be a break before we get stuck into the final 5 pages of the chapter! Next update:

Has Aine figured out anything Aoife has said in the last few pages? Aoife seems to have been speaking English exclusively….
Many cultures practice communal sleeping arrangements to share body heat. Perhaps that’s why Aine seems offended that Aoife didn’t offer to share her bed. Or maybe it’s considered a sign if friendship. Or Aine could be attracted to Aiofe, physically.

Perhaps Bata Driochta give language comprehension? Or perhaps, as she is coming from an age of oral histories where one had to memorize everything one wanted to know, as well as the mental discipline of being a caster, allows Áine to pick-up languages quickly? /left field speculation

Yeah, I’ve been thinking for weeks that Aine might climb into bed with Aoife (completely innocently). I’d love to see Aoife’s reaction to waking up with Aine sleeping on her shoulder.
@Azrael: You can tell a lot from non verbals – body language, tone of voice, etc. Aine has prolly been missing most of the details of what’s been being said, but she’s prolly been picking up most of the emotional context.
@ Kessy: I wonder if there were any nightgowns/pajamas in that pile of clothes Ashling dropped off–or underwear, for that matter.
Innocent intentions on Aine’s part or not, Aoife may suffer that heart attack she was talking about in the shower.
@Delta: Even if there are pajamas or a nightgown in the pile of clothes, Aine won’t have any idea what they are or what they’re for.
@Kessy: Oh, crap, you’re right! Well, so long, Aoife, it was nice knowing you…..
@Azrael: The names of things are easier (chair), but even there lies the possibility of confusion. for example, a person points to a bed and says an unfamiliar word. Does it mean “bed”, “blanket”, “sheet”, “mattress”, “pillow”, or possibly, “sleep”?
Even harder are words you can’t describe by pointing at something. Aoife has been using words like “feel”, and “like”, and what is Aine to make of “nighty night”? Even with perfect recall it’s not an easy task.
Want another example? Define “bow”. 🙂

@Kessy: Exactly my point. Same spelling, way too many different meanings. English is illogical. ^^
@Delta: Ashling did throw in some night clothes, but as Kessy mentions…Áine would have no idea what they are…I guess if Aoife didn’t give into fatigue she might have tried to show her before falling to sleep.
While I’m sure Aoife’s reaction when she wakes up will be priceless, I’ll bet a large sum that afterwards she won’t regret a thing and would do it again if given the chance.
… Isn’t the fifth of December on Monday, not Friday?
